Days Off For Police Cancelled
The police high command has cancelled all days off for members of the constabulary force for the period July 31 – August 2, 2015. In staff orders issued to all Jamaica Constabulary Force members, the high command says the cancellation is to “facilitate the deployment of more persons in the streets to prevent crime, mainly murders.” There has been a marked increase in major crimes in recent weeks, particularly in western parishes. Meanwhile chairman of the Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, says he is not pleased by the decision. According to chairman, the Federation was not consulted before the decision was made. He noted that rank and file members have been complaining recently of low morale.
