Meeting to Determine Holness’ Future Underway
Talk Jamaica Radio understands that the meeting of the JLP’s parliamentary caucus is now underway. The meeting is expected to decide the fate of Andrew Holness as Leader of the Opposition. Sources say the “Shaw camp”, which is seeking to unseat the young leader, is expressing confidence in their numbers. It is alleged that at least one veteran MP who supported Holness in the last leadership contest is expected to tip the balance in Shaw’s favour. The veteran MP may also have initiated the caucus meeting this morning. It is being further alleged that the donor class of the JLP may be a strong influence in the move to unseat Holness.
Andrew Holness has been leader of the JLP since 2011, and Leader of the Opposition since 2012.
