News Rates For North South Highway

Minister of Transport and Mining, Mike Henry, is confirming that the operators of the North-South Highway have agreed to forego an increase in toll rates.

Instead the discounts that Jamaicans have been enjoying will be removed which means that the original rates that were published at the opening of the road in March will now come into effect.

The minister said the new rates are to become effective September 12, 2016.

Based on the concession Agreement, the toll operators are entitled to increased rates in September, 2016. However  Minister Henry said that he the government negotiated a better rate for motorists using that corridor.

The Minister said that the rates published on Wednesday by the  Jamaica North South High Way were not in keeping with the agreement reached.  He says the new rates are to be re-published which will supersede the rates published on Wednesday.
