Patrick Powell Case Postponed
Trial of businessman Patrick Powell for failing to turn over his licensed firearm to the police has again been pushed back. This happen earlier today when the case was mentioned in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.
Powell’s attorney Deborah Martin requested the transcripts of witnesses who testified in the murder trial and who are to testify in the firearm case.
The case was therefore scheduled to be mentioned again on February 16 when the transcripts are to be handed over and a new trial date set.
Powell is accused of failing to turn over his firearm to police investigators probing the shooting death of Kingston College student Khajeel Mais in 2011.
In October last year a seven-member jury found him not guilty of killing Mais after prosecutors opted to offer no further evidence against him midway the trial.
