Peter Bunting Withdraws From Leadership Race, Throws Support Behind Phillips
Peter Bunting has withdraw his bid for leadership of the People’s National Party. Bunting who has made his intention known early this year made the disclosure a short while ago.
In a release Bunting stated that he held a series of consultations with parliamentary and local government leadership and it was concluded that it is Peter Phillps turn.
He says that political parties are national organisation and he is of the belief that the leadership decision should be made on a wider set of considerations.
Bunting says he is throwing his support behind Peter Phillips, he says Dr. Philips has made and continues to make an outstanding contribution to our nation and he will give him the support.
The position of president of the People’s National Party will become vacant next year as the party leader Portia Simpson Miller signaled that she will not seek re-election come September 2017.
