We Are Sorry Says Prime Minister
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller in a national broadcast to the Nation has apologized to the mothers who lost babies during the bacterial outbreaks at two of the island’s major hospitals. She says the government has made major investments to improve the health care system but gaps still remain.
The PM says the internal audit shows that there is more work to be done.

The Prime Minister indicated that she has instructed the new health minister Horace Dalley to strengthen the system of health care delivery by eliminating the death of babies and adults from causes of bacterial outbreak. She says the minister will also focus on the reporting structure between the regional authorities and the Ministry of Health.
Mrs. Simpson-Miller ended by saying that government and citizens must work together to create a better Jamaica.
The speech which lasted a little under five minutes comes a day before the cabinet reshuffle takes effect.
