Arnaldo Brown Reckless and Irresponsible Says Young Jamaica
The youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party, Young Jamaica, has described as “shocking and deeply disappointing” the news that Member of Parliament for East Central St. Catherine, Arnaldo Brown, has rejected an invitation by Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness, and caretaker, Alando Terrelong, for holding a joint peace march in the constituency. This after the tragic shooting and stabbing deaths of two individuals in the area.
According to Young Jamaica, Mr. Brown’s refusal of the invitation and his subsequent inflammatory comments are both reckless and dangerous.
“Comments attributed to the Member of Parliament in the print media really gives us reason to question his commitment to a deescalation of tensions in the constituency. At a time when it is absolutely crucial that both parties show a united front in the face of criminals, Mr. Brown is choosing to be divisive, partisan and reckless.”
Young Jamaica says it roundly rejects and condemns the State Minister’s suggestions that Mr. Terrelong’s entry into the constituency brought with it violence
The organisation says it is calling on the Political Ombudsman, Donna Parchment Brown, to require Mr. Brown to withdraw the comments and issue an unqualified apology to Mr. Terrelong.
