Dwayne Vaz Apologises
The Member of Parliament for Cenral Westmoreland the PNP’s Dwayne Vaz has “categorically and unreservedly” apologised for his utterances on a political platform in St James,recently.
Vaz, who submitted his apology through Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown, said he saw that his remarks could give the impression that he was in support of gang-style criminal conduct.
Mr. Vaz has also committed to make a verbal apology at a planned gospel concert to be held at the People’s National Party headquarters on December 19. It is also understood that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has also summoned the first time MP to a meeting.
Mr. Vaz has also indicated that he is taking steps to stage a seminar on values and attitudes with young people from his constituency in January.
The MP will make himself available for questions, comments, and feedback.
Vaz was reported to the political ombudsman by Dr Horace Chang, general secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party. This after he used lyrics from convicted murderer Vybz Kartel’s song, which glorified gun violence.
