Soldier Found With Cocaine
A 32-year-old member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) member was yesterday arrested after he allegedly tried to leave the island with 2.8 kilograms of cocaine.
The cocaine is said to have a street value of 3.3 million.
The soldier who is booked to appear in court on Wednesday is said to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney, he will be charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export cocaine.
It is understood that the soldier turned up at the Norman Manley International Airport yesterday to board a flight heading to Canada. His suitcase was checked by the K9 Division and found to contain a false compartment. On further checks, the false compartment had a white substance resembling cocaine.
Further checks revealed that there were three souvenir cups with an additional white powdery substance resembling cocaine.
